Illumination Subsystems

The T°Imager thermoreflectance thermal imaging system derives a change in surface temperature by detecting minute changes in surface reflectivity. The intensity of the light source and the wavelength of light that are used to generate the reflection are critical elements of the T°Imager system's accuracy and success. To maximize signal response and optimize the accuracy of your results, TMX Scientific offers several illumination subsystems and will work with you to find the perfect match for your testing needs and budget requirements.

Monochromator

The monochromator is a tunable light source that delivers a range of white light to the device under test. It grants the user the ability to fine-tune the wavelength of light and deliver a wavelength that maximizes the thermoreflectance response for the materials under test. Since the T°Imager thermal imaging system does not require any sample surface preparation, the monochromator provides the flexibility to return optimal results for a wide range of surface materials. The monochromator comes with a controller and power supply, and the light is delivered to the Measurement Head light port by an optical fiber. The monochromator is best suited for steady-state measurement modes only.

Multi-Wavelength LED Illuminator

The Multi-Wavelength LED Illuminator (MWL) projects up to 12 different LED wavelengths, defined by the customer and delivered via an SMA optical fiber port. Use the intuitive interface to switch between the different wavelengths, ranging from near-UV to near-IR. The MWL can be used with T°Imager for both steady-state and transient measurements and is ideal for scanning a test device for its optimal reflectivity and conveniently measuring devices with multiple surface materials and/or surface properties.

Multi-LED Illuminator

The Multi-LED Illuminator (MLI) is a rack-mounted enclosure that contains up to 16 different LED emitters. The MLI provides a range of wavelengths of light to the Measurement Head, delivered by an optical fiber. The number of LED emitters and the wavelengths included are customizable, ranging from 365 nm to 850 nm. The MLI can be used for both steady-state and transient measurements and is ideal for test samples that contain multiple materials within the field of view.
